Ross Valory Bio
The first well known band that Ross performed in was the “great lost psychedelic band” Frumious Bandersnatch.
The first prominent rock band that Ross appeared in was the Steve Miller Blues Band when their album Rock Love was released in September 1971.
In 1972 Ross joined forces with Herbie Herbert, Greg Rollie, Neal Schon, George Tickner and Prairie Prince to form the Golden Gate Rhythm Section which very soon became Journey. The rest of that story is well known history.
In 1988 between journeys, he performed on the first Michael Bolton tour with Jonathan Cain.
In 1989 Ross Performed and recorded the live Second Wind album with Todd Rundgren and Prairie Prince.
1986-1990 Ross formed the band VU with co-founder and producer Stephan Jarvis along with Kevin Chalfant, Prairie Prince, Guitarist Steff Burns and keyboardist Tim Gorman of The Who.
In 1990 Kevin and Ross formed The Storm with Greg Rollie and Steve Smith.
In 1994 Ross helped form the band that backed the SY Klopps Blues Band. He performed on the first two albums.
In 1996 Ross was invited to the Journey reunion of the Trial By Fire project.
In 1997 Ross appeared on the Abraxas Pool album and played on the initial performances with Gregg Rolie, Michael Carabello, Jose “Chepito” Areas and Neal Schon.
In 1998 Ross re-formed Journey with the current membership.
In 1999 Ross teamed up with Neil Zaza and Steve Smith to record the Staring At The Sun album.
In 1999 Neal Schon released Piranha Blues featuring Ross and Prairie Prince.
In the meantime Ross acquired a warehouse in Pacheco and started working with long time friends George Tickner and Steve Roseman.
Recently Ross teamed up with Steve Roseman for the “No Nation” project with John Hernandez, and Ed Ulibarri.
Between 2002 and 2004 Frumious Bandersnatch re-united to record a new album.
